Noom is a leader in digital healthcare and behavior change, and has launched the Noom Microdose GLP-1Rx Program. It is a groundbreaking approach in weight management that designed to improve health outcomes, reduce side effects, and lower costs. The program launches with a one-time sign-up fee of $119, followed by a $199/month subscription, which includes the prescribed medication (if applicable) and provides a personalized, lower-dose treatmnet plan compared to standard GLP-1 protocols. Â
The U.S. obesity rate is more than 40%, and significantly higher than that of most developed countries. The need for solutions to facilitate sustainable and lasting weight loss that are accessible, tolerable, and cost-effective has never been greater. It cannot be overstated that the Noom microdose program addresses three core challenges in this space: 1. High drug costs, 2. Treatment intolerance 3. Long-term habit change. Â
“Typically, GLP-1 protocols have unwanted side effects that cause discontinuation of treatment,” said Dr. Jeffrey Egler, Noom’s Chief Medical Officer. “Our Microdose GLP-1Rx Program is built around the concepts of personalization and gradual titration, allowing us to greatly lower the incidence of side effects while still helping our members achieve the long-lasting results they want.”Â
The program follows a “low and slow” dosing strategy, in in that participants receive no more than 25% of the GLP-1 maintenance dose. Noom categorizes microdosing as any percentage of the established dosing levels, which is individualized based on clinical indicators, including body mass inedx (BMI), weight loss rate, and side effect tolerance. According to Noom’s own statistics, 70% of participants receiving microdoses report no side effects and many report losing up to 17 pounds in just two months.Â
Scientific backing for the microdose model is strong. A new article examining nearly 2700 participants was recently highlighted at the 2025 European Congress on Obesity, which informed that after 64 weeks, participants using microdosed semaglutide achieved an average of 16% weight loss. In another illustration, research published in The New England Journal of Medicine indicated that one-third of a standard GLP-1 dosing yielded 72% of the weight loss effect, with significantly fewer complications.Â
Noom’s program is further enhanced by GLP-1 Companion, which is a digital platform offering structured behavior change tools including personalized coaching, meal tracking, physical activity guidance, and access to a healthcare provider on a 24/7 basis. Users engaged with the Companion tool, in Noom’s studies, have shown much higher adherence and an average of 10% weight loss by month four, compared to those who did not engage with it.Â
Beyond weight loss, GLP-1 therapies have the potential benefit to improve cardiovascular, renal, and inflammatory outcome measures. Some studies have reported reductions in compulsive behaviors, including alcohol use and gambling. Â
Noom’s launch also includes plans for broader access. At a July event hosted by the White House, Noom announced it will provide a free version of its app to all American, regardless of income or BMI. This initiative refelcts Noom’s commitment to incraesing national access to healthy lifestyle interventions. Â
The company’s vision is all about the long-term horizon: adding a decade of healthspan to a billion lives. “GLP-1s combined with microhabits are not just about losing some weight,” said Geoff Cook, Noom CEO. “It’s a foundation for metabolic resilience and for flourishing in a world where healthy choices rae often hardest ones to make.” Â
With their Microdose GLP-1Rx Program, Noom is reimagining the future of obesity treatment – using a scientifically supported personalized approach to make treatment affordable and sustainable for millions.Â
